About Tank War
Once upon a time there was a playful IT-class of our eleventh grade (in 2001) that only had access to old computers running on DOS and offering Turbo Pascal. When we finally found a game which did not exceed the capabilities of these computers, we were extremely happy. From then on we played "Tank Wars" by Kenneth Morse very often. But after some time, the name has been worn off and soon we called it "Tank War" (without the "s") without realizing that the name was different.
Tank War -=[FIS]=- Edition v1.1
The teacher of our IT-class was Mr. Fuchs (great teacher!) and as a joke we thought about calling a clan -=[FIS]=-: Fuchs Info Survivor! According to this pseudo-clan my first own version of Tank War was named "Tank War -=[FIS]=- Edition".
I coded this version during fall holidays to get three main advantages (which could become disadvantages on modern PCs): It runs on DOS (here comes the disadvantage), doesn't demand to much hardware and it is written in Turbo Pascal making it easy to change things in school.
It was one of those spontaneous changes that lead to some special jokes, meaning some players are treated different, depending on their names.
If you plan to play this game on a modern PC running a operation system or Windows (yes, this differentiation is important), you might need a DOS-Emulator, but it may still be difficult. Just google for an emulator and try it out

Tank War 3D v0.04
I started trying some DirectX code and it worked so good that I taylored my first steps towards a new Tank War: "Tank War 3D"!
But it became more and more difficult to continue the development of this game, because it grew from some tests. I never planned the whole project and produced very bad spaghetti-code. Therefore I finally stopped Tank War 3D in an early alpha-version and I will probably never finnish it.
